Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, arrived in Kinshasa for his first official visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where he and President Félix Tshisekedi oversaw the signing of a package of bilateral cooperation agreements.
Footage of the Emir’s arrival at N’djili International Airport showed a formal reception with a guard of honor and the presence of President Tshisekedi. The two leaders held bilateral talks on ways to strengthen relations before witnessing the signing of several agreements.
The agreements cover the development of ports, legal cooperation, and reciprocal visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic and special passports in both countries. The visit follows the recent Doha-mediated framework peace agreement between the DRC government and the M23 armed movement, aimed at ending years of conflict in the eastern part of the country and supporting regional stability efforts.
