Guinea-Bissau: Political Alliance Formed to Support Umaro Sissoco Embaló’s Re-Election

Sixteen political parties in Guinea-Bissau have announced the formation of a political alliance aimed at ensuring political stability in the country and supporting the re-election of President Umaro Sissoco Embaló in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for November 23.

The initiative, called the Republican Platform No Kombo Guiné (“Unity for Guinea”), seeks to establish “a stable political authority with real capacity for innovation and reform” and to achieve “broad national consensus” for the modernization of the country, according to the agreement signed by the founding parties.

The signatories also pledged to form “a government representing the signatory parties” if the incumbent president is re-elected.

According to the National Electoral Commission, a total of 966,152 voters are registered to take part in the legislative and presidential elections scheduled for November.
