Burkina Faso and Chad Sign Memorandum of Understanding in the Mining Sector

A statement issued by the Ministry of Mines of Burkina Faso announced that Burkina Faso and Chad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over the last weekend in the fields of mining and geological surveying.

The statement noted that the signing ceremony, which took place in the Burkinabé capital, Ouagadougou, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in mining and geological research.

The same source described the MoU as a strategic shift toward South-South cooperation, focusing on knowledge exchange and the modernization of mining practices.

The Burkinabé Ministry of Mines regarded the signing of the agreement as a highly significant step in this newly launched cooperation, which is expected to grow further in ways that benefit the well-being of both populations.

For its part, Chad’s Ministry of Mines welcomed the move, stating that it lays the foundation for a relationship that will contribute to enhancing technical expertise and improving the management of mining resources in both countries.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that “this rapprochement underscores both countries’ commitment to making the mining sector a driver of sustainable growth,” noting that the agreement was signed during a working visit by a Chadian delegation to Burkina Faso.
